Everybody who cares about health care reform should watch this.
Betsy McCaughey claims the health care bill forces doctors to choose between patients’ interests and government penalties in this complete, unedited interview.
Wow check out this great emergency landing after an apparent engine failure.
Why do these jobs appeal to me??
Lately I’ve been pondering what I would do if I had the chance to start over, carrier wise.
Alaskan Crab Fisherman (blame deadliest catch..)
This isn’t like hey, those guys on the teevees do it! I can to. or maybe it is who knows.
If I got into this it would be to work on the deck for a few years. Gain the respect of a captain. Learn the ropes of running a ship and someday operate one on my own. I’m probably interested in this because there is a lot of money involved and the whole 120’ boat massive seas, staring mother nature down thing.
Electric Lineman
I was driving down the highway the other day and noticed they were putting up some big high tension lines along I-90. Pulling cable through several miles of towers. Something about all the equipment and coordination. Doing something that will meaningfully affect society. The power grid needs a lot of work in the next 10-20 years. I like connecting things.
Maritime Salvage

I have to admit this is almost entirely fueled by the above wired link. But wow what a job. Solving problems. Expensive problems. Under pressure. That is what i was built for. The trouble is.. Well how many people actually do this. I mean this is a pretty narrow field. And I’m thinking its one you need to know the right people to break into. But given the opportunity I would do this in a heartbeat.
Anyway.. Why do I gravitate to these things? I really don’t need more stress.
I don’t see myself as being happy with anything resembling a “normal” job. Sitting behind a desk running TPS reports. no. no way. I mean it has its appealing factors. 1. Somebody else signs the paychecks. Meaning I don’t have to worry about where the money for the next payroll is coming from. 2. uhh see no 1?
I don’t think I’d ever be happy with any of these jobs either though. They wouldn’t turn out right. I’d never be able to afford my own crab ship. I’d be bored in 2 weeks of pulling wire. I’d wind up doing something somewhat related to maritime salvage but not exactly what I want.
